STATEMENT FROM LIGNITE ENERGY COUNCIL PRESIDENT JASON BOHRER ON PRESIDENT TRUMP’S VISIT TO NORTH DAKOTA

September 6, 2017

(BISMARCK, ND) – “On behalf of the members of the Lignite Energy Council (LEC), I’d like to welcome President Donald Trump to Bismarck. President Trump knows that homegrown North Dakota energy like oil, gas, and lignite coal help drive the American economy.  We are encouraged to hear the President’s willingness to reform the tax system. The LEC will continue to advocate for tax policy like the 45Q tax credit for carbon dioxide sequestration.”

About 45Q: This credit currently allows for $10 per ton of stored industrial carbon dioxide used in enhanced oil recovery projects and $20 per ton for carbon dioxide stored underground.
