In the last few years, the Lignite Energy Council established the Lignite Energy Foundation, a 501 c3 nonprofit, to raise funds to support education and scholarship programs for students and teachers in the Upper Midwest who are served by coal-based electricity.
The LEC and Foundation have provided funds for educational programs and activities which educate about the coal industry, processes, and economic impact; promote industry-related career opportunities; and aim to facilitate opportunities to actively engage students with the industry.
As the need for well-trained students interested in the energy industry continues to grow, the Foundation will play a critical role to getting students into a wide spectrum of educational programs. If you’re interested in supporting the Foundation, here’s a couple very easy ways to get involved:
Donate directly to the Lignite Energy Foundation by sending a check to the Lignite Energy Council office:
1016 E. Owens Avenue PO Box 2277 Bismarck, ND 58502
Sign up for a North Dakota Coal License Plate
To get a license plate, simply follow the instructions located on the LEC website. A portion of each plate will support the Foundation.
